The district has been monitoring closely the situation regarding COVID-19 and will remain closed Friday, April 24, 2020, in compliance with Gov. Kemp's Executive Order. The school system will continue to evaluate the situation with the goal for students to return on Monday, April 27, 2020, if conditions permit.
This decision is for the protection of our students, faculty and staff as well as to support statewide and nationwide efforts to slow the spread of the virus. Resources for students will continue to be listed and updated on the school system webpage and Facebook. For students who may not have access to electronic resources, additional at-home learning packets will be available at the entrance of each school.
Additionally, all athletic practices and competitions will be canceled until further notice per the advice of Georgia High School Association. Field trips, employee travel, and after-school programs and activities are suspended.
The McDuffie County School System will implement a “Grab-n-Go” program beginning Friday, March 20, 2020, until Friday, April 24, 2020. The program will provide breakfast and lunch for students at three sites within the community.
The sites will be open for breakfast beginning at 7:45 and ending at 8:45. Lunch will be available from 11:15 until 12:30. The sites will be open Monday-Friday.
Each site will have a table set-up on the exterior which will allow for students to “Grab-n-Go” breakfast and lunch.
